The name “By Cesca”

I realise I haven’t done a post about how I came up with the name, so let me tell you now.

I knew right off that bat I wanted to use my name or part of my name.

I love the Australian jewellery brand ‘By Charlotte’, so that’s where where I got the ‘By’ from. I thought it would be really cool to start the name with By.

By Francesca I felt was a bit too much, so I cut my name in half and decided to use Cesca which is one of my nicknames. My family calls me that and has been calling me that since I was a little girl.

When I hear Cesca or someone call me Cesca, it’s brings me back to my childhood. I was a shy and quiet kid, but I had a lot of thoughts and for some reason I wouldn’t always voice it, and now I’ve created a space where I can express myself, and create, and I can say whatever it is that’s on my mind. It’s very liberating and I think my younger self would be very happy that now, I’m not afraid to give an opinion or say how I feel. There have been quite a few blog posts where I’ve talked about my childhood and different things I felt growing up, and when I write about that kind of stuff, a part of me is healing my younger self. Little Cesca will always play an important role in By Cesca, and I owe it to my younger self to make this brand the very best it can be.

When I was brainstorming names, I was thinking of something like “Journal with Cesca”, “Francesca Writes”, but it didn’t flow as nicely as I wanted it to, and I didn’t want too many words in the name. Two words maximum is what I was striving for.

By Cesca started with my love for journaling and writing, but I didn’t want to limit myself and what I could create with just having the words ‘journal’ or ‘writing’ in the name. There are so many things I want to do and that I’m passionate about, so having By Cesca be the name and the brand, it allows me to venture out and do other things.

There are so many possibilities, and that keeps it exciting for me.
